For Het Bureau, a practice-based concept within Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht, I developed a web-based attendance system together with a fellow student. Het Bureau operates as an in-house creative agency where designers, visual artists, and developers work on real projects for external clients. In return, students gain hands-on professional experience.
To accurately track daily student attendance at Het Bureau, there was a need for a reliable and user-friendly attendance solution. The system we developed contains the data of all Bureau staff members and allows students to check in and out digitally.
Students check in using their student number and a digital signature. This information is stored in the database along with the exact check-in time. At the end of the day, students check out using the same method. Through an admin panel, teachers can clearly see who checked in and out, at what time, and whether the signature matches, helping to prevent fraud such as checking in for someone else.
In addition, we implemented an Excel upload feature that allows teachers to easily import classes using exported class lists. This significantly improves efficiency in managing students and class data.
